From 2018, SCOAP3 will support High-Energy Physics articles in three APS journals: Physical Review C, Physical Review D and Physical Review Letters. By including these renowned journals of the American Physical Society, SCOAP3 will cover around 90% of all High-Energy Physics publications. Please find below some important information what this important milestone means for you. If you have any further questions, please contact the SCOAP3 operations team: [email protected]
What will change for libraries?
As SCOAP3 will centrally fund parts of the three participating journals, APS will reduce the respective subscription fees for all its customers. The respective list price of the journal or package will be reduced as follows: TABLE OF REDUCTIONS.
If you are already a SCOAP3 partner, your 2018 renewal invoice will automatically show a SCOAP3 related reduction. You will pay directly the lower amount to APS and can redirect the reduction to the SCOAP3 Fund via our SCOAP3 National Contact Point
If your library does not yet support SCOAP3, your 2018 renewal invoice will be based on the list price of the journal or package. APS will issue a credit note to you about the SCOAP3 related reduction. PLEASE CONTACT US if you wish to join the largest Open Access partnership in the world. Contributing the reductions on our subscription fees to the SCOAP3 fund will help researchers from all over the world to benefit from Open Access.
What will change for authors?
Nothing will change! You can publish in your preferred journal as before. But you have more choice to publish Open Access at no cost. You will not be asked to pay anything by submitting an eligible article to SCOAP3 journals. As before, you might be asked to sign a form at the end of the review process. This form might now look slightly different as you no longer sign away the copyright to your work.
If you are not sure whether your institution already supports SCOAP3, please reach out to your library and encourage them to join the partnership.
What will change for readers?
From January 2018, you will be able to read High-Energy Physics articles at the APS journals websites irrespective whether your institution has subscribed or not. This means you can also easily access all SCOAP3 supported content from home or while travelling. All SCOAP3 articles will be published under a CC-BY license This means you can download and reuse them as long as you credit appropriately the author(s).
